For 2012 Triumph has announced 3 new models to their lineup.

The first addition is to the naked bike lineup and is an additional “R” model of the Speed Triple. Not only does this bike have a sportier look but, because Triumph teamed up with Öhlins and other performance parts manufacturers, it has better suspension, and 5% better braking performance including an anti-lock option.

Next up for the naked bikes is the limited production Steve McQueenTM Edition. Only 1,100 of this model will be available worldwide and is based on the Triumph Trophy TR6 that Steve McQueen rode in The Great Escape.

Probably the most exciting for us is that Triumph is throwing it’s hat, shirt, and pants into the Adventure Motorcycle segment with an all new Triumph Tiger 1200cc. Following along the likes of the BMW-GS and the Yamaha Ténéré, the Tiger will be a shaft drive, 1200cc. The Triumph is reported to have features like Traction control, switchable ABS and cruise control.

The cruise control alone could be a big game changer for many riders because BMW R1200GS owners have been asking for this almost since the inception of the big twin that has ruled the adventure class since the debut.

You can bet we’ll be keeping an eye on the new Tiger, especially when we hit the Dealer show in February where we’ll get a chance to see first-hand any accessories the aftermarket industry will be designing for it.

For some reason, every time I hear the words Isle of Man I think of the old Norton, Matchless, and Triumph days. I know it’s come a long way since those brands have been in the winners circle and this video reminds me how far it’s come.

Most certainly a bucket list place for me.
