We’ve been carrying the Contour HD video camera lineup for quite some time and personally use the Contour GPS model when I record my rides. I’ve had a chance to use both the GoPro and the Contour cameras and in my opinion, the Contours win hands down in picture quality and ease of use.

The new Contour Roam takes the ease of use one step further with updated design. I’ve gone ahead and listed some of the updated features that make the roam even more user friendly.

  • The new case is waterproof up to 1 meter and you can add a case if you’re going to be using it in deeper conditions.
  • They integraded a standard 1/4″ – 20 camera thread into the base so you can use your existing video camera mount or just add a standard RAM camera mount ball and use a RAM-Mounts setup.
  • Battery is now built in and the unit is only powered on when you slide the record switch forward. This gives you much more control over the battery life of the camera.
  • Both a profile mount and rotating surface mount are included so you can attach it to your helmet, bodywork, or get creative with your mounting location.

All of the changes the crew at Contour made in designing the Roam to replace the standard HD video camera make it a great entry level camera for riders looking to capture their adventures and share them with friends or save them to re-live their rides.
